Gather ye zinnias
while ye may,
and salute not much
with patchwork nosegay.
With spikes of cool lavender,
chrysanthemum puff,
in little glass pitchers
not much is enough.
It doesn’t take big
to bring joy to our eyes;
the palette of zinnias
is its own giant size.
With apologies to Robert Herrick,
and thanks to my dear friend Donna for the zinnia seeds!

I love Zinnias. I had a good friend, and that was the only flower he planted so every single time I see them I think of that gentleman immediately. I don’t have a lot of luck with growing them because of insects, but I’ve already bought some seeds for next year so I’m thinking positively. 🙂 On another note, fall is positively here – 33 degrees while I’m drinking my morning coffee and reading this. Hope you have a good Monday.

33 degrees??!!!! Wow. Clutch that coffee!
Gardens do grow memories, don’t they? I love zinnias too, and I think these might be the first I’ve ever grown without some kind of problem. They are almost dwarf zinnias and are new to me, thanks to Donna. I have enjoyed them immensely, and I’m hoping the finches will share the seeds with me. A good Monday to you too, Judy!
