Today is Grandma O’Hern Day
the date she was born and died.
She always had rice in her salt shaker
and a tin with buttons inside.
She said she was no gardener
and maybe that was true
but she always grew moss roses
and now I always do too.
Her house was our Saturday treat
my brother and I would play
with brown sugar sandwiches to eat
and I miss her to this day.
