May 25.24: Coping, but barely

Yellow door in a gray brick wall and arched doorway. The door has a blue umbrella painted on the upper half. In the arch above the door are the words, "Let love rain down"The Rain

Daffodil and sunflower,

egg yolk, tiny finch,

brilliant blazing color,

sun in every inch.

And now comes door in likeness

exploding in our eyes

to pose a certain question

I must perforce surmise:

in such unsubtle burst

of manic sunny yella,

if it’s really raining love,

why reach for an umbrella?

With thanks to Resa for the photo,

with an English major’s happy dance

at being able to throw in a perforce,

submitted to Dan Antion’s

Thursday Doors Writing Challenge.

Yella and umbrella–my kinda rhyme! 😆 That is such a great door with a great poem to match.

This made me smile, Maureen. Resa’s photo was so fun, I’m glad you were moved by it to create this.

Love this photo and love your whimsical poem. I have to admit though, I had to look up ‘perforce’. 😳

The Thursday Doors Writing Challenge has been a pot of gold for you Maureen. You have done it proud indeed. Yella and umbrella I had no trouble with! 🤣

Thank you for so generously sharing your awesome creativity with us. Your posts are always a joy to receive because they are always a class act.

And now you may have the pleasure of approving my comment once again….perhaps forever.

Yes, I think this approval thing will go on forever, but it’s no big deal — except in principle. I just click and suddenly WP thinks you’re just fine. As for this Writing Challenge, indeed it has kept my muse hopping, and I’m in a state of disbelief. But I can believe you had to look up perforce; it’s very rusty and dusty — an English major’s nerdy fun! Thanks so much, Ginger!

I love those last two lines! This is a wonderful door, and you’ve done it justice. (K)

Now, that’s a good question. Why not just stand out there and soak it up. 🙂 It rained here during the night which is the perfect time for the tourists. A bonus is I don’t have to water anything this morning. With all that spare time, I may have to bake something. Sounds like a good excuse to me. 🙂

Yes, you might have to force yourself to bake something! We had good rain yesterday, and I too gave thanks that I didn’t have to water, but the weeds were flourishing so I had to attend to them. It looks as though some bad storms are headed this way today, along with “high risk” of tornadoes and such. If I’m blown to New Hampshire, I’ll be most interested in what you’re baking.

If you feel the wind pick up, text me, and I’ll reach out and grab on to you as you pass by. I’m thinking raspberry something or other. 🙂

Oooh, raspberry something-or-other! One of my favorites! Maybe the wind will just follow the fragrance and I’ll be deposited at your door. If you hear a big plop, check the front door.

Maureen, this is absolutely delightful! I love that you used “yella”, particularly since as a kid, I thought that was the name of the color. LOL.

    Hugs.

    Alrighty!

Lotsa fun reading this one, Maureen!

OMG! So happy you picked another of my pics! Yaya!!

Have a fab rest of weekend!

Yellow or yella is my favorite color and has been since I was a child. Lovely and fun poem! I’m not much for umbrellas; rain or love. 🙂
