May 24.24: Coping, but barely

Multiples

How many of me

do I want to see?

Will the me far away

in this Doppler array,

soft-hearted, deceive

or insist I believe

that up-close or far

I’m what they are?

With thanks to photographer S.W. Berg,

submitted to Dan Antion’s

Love your whimsical poem that suits this photo perfectly. Just for the record, I would love having multiples of you around. Life would be that much more fun because you are such a delight.

Thanks, Ginger! I’m not sure that multiples of me would be such a blessing; sometimes one of me is even too much for me! The photo is kind of fun and kind of scary all at once, I think.

I always have so many thoughts when I stare into multiple mirror images. Did that guy in the back raise his hand with the rest of us? Who nodded first? Am I somehow trapped outside the mirror?

We are what they are…aren’t we?

Ah, yes, you have it exactly: it’s all about questions. I had a big argument with myself over the wording of that last line: should it be “who” or “what”? Aren’t the images the what but I am the who? Or are they who too? Or am I the what or its opposite, the what-not? As you can tell, the entire debate ended up in the giggles.

Thank you Maureen for the reflection on reflection seeking self expression poem. I enjoyed your reference to “Dopplery array” for some reaons my mind went to mirrors presenting an image limited by space and time.

I keep reading these last two lines over and over again. Those mirrors are fascinating to think about, aren’t they? Great verse, Maureen!

Something a little unnerving about seeing so many reflections – caught well in your words1

Deep today, and I may need some chocolate. I definitely don’t want to look at multiple shots of myself. 🙂

I always need chocolate! And if I had to see an infinity of myself at this point, I’d need more than chocolate, That is not a mirror I’d spend much time in front of! Cool photo, though! Thanks, Judy!

I wonder –can we both deceive and believe at the same time? And are the mirrors multiplying or dividing? Excellent food for thought. (K)
