May 11.21: Coping

Away and away,

a blast of song

across the pond,

a mile high,

bumping his head

against the sky,

a splotch of black

like India ink,

with baby leaves

nodding in sync,

bellowing heart

afire with life,

bright as his chevron,

half trumpet, half fife.

  1. Lovely capture – lovely words.

  2. beautiful. Both words and image.

    • Thanks, Shirah! I’ve been thinking about you, needless to say, with a bit of anxiety, so it’s especially good to hear from you.

  3. I love the idea of the leaves nodding in sync (and as a refrain when the bird how close you are and takes off).

  4. Nice one. I was thinking of you today when I got down on the floor to paint under a work table. Then I wondered if I’d need to call 911 to unkink my back and get out and up. I made it, but I’m rocking two ice packs right now. 🙂 This old gray mare definitely isn’t what she use to be.

    • OK, I admit I’m laughing but not at you — at your words! Make that two old gray mares! How I sympathize. A two-ice-pack-day is to be taken seriously; I hope they help. Painting under a work table would definitely make you think of me with my head under the flush box. We sure know how to have a good time!
