November 11.20: Coping

When the outer is gone

the inner is left

then do we see

how strong

how fine

how searching

the spirit.

More thanks to photographer S.W. Berg, CAPT, MC, USN (Ret),

and to the now-quiet old parade grounds

at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis.

Wishing this tired country a thoughtful Veterans Day.

  1. Tired country is right, and I’ll leave it at that. 🇺🇸 Our property borders a wooded/wetland area, and this time of year it is interesting how you can see the trunks and branches of the trees because the leaves are down. Different but still a beautiful thing.

    • I so agree there is beauty in the trees even without the leaves, and sometimes I think that’s why the leaves come down — so we can see the trees.
