If I could befriend watercolor
and dip my brush into a sunset,
I would capture this
with scrupulous palette.
Then again, if I did,
and caged it in a frame.
how deluded would I be
to think it looked the same?

Some years back I was in to painting signs and things with acrylics and got fairly decent using stencils. I took quite a few lessons and enjoyed it. So, I decided why not take a couple of water color classes. OMG I was so bad I can’t even describe it to you. For the rest of my life, I will applaud every person who can do water color paintings. It’s truly an art and not one I have any claim to. 🙂

Oh, how I can commiserate! I mostly made colored puddles. Eventually I learned to cheat and use watercolor pencils, but in a very limited way. I agree completely about applauding anyone who is skilled with watercolor; it is a gift not given to everyone! I do congratulate you on your acrylic works, though; I bet they were good!

I think once again you are too modest. I could only paint a sunset if I could stand on the sidelines like a football manager, then send on lavender, orange, grey and white with the instructions, ‘arrange yourselves’.

Thank you for that good laugh! I am sure you would be an excellent color manager, and that makes as much sense to me as any other approach to watercolor. No, modesty does not enter in. I was hopeless.
