May 11.20: Coping

Is it a window

if no one looks out

and no one looks in?

What’s it about?

It’s ever so pretty,

an unblinking eye,

watching the birds

and years flying by.

Maybe that’s all,

enough just to be

a fanciful brooch

on limestone lady.

  1. I love stained glass. Years ago, I took a class, but it was very rushed. I loved the craft, but it requires some financial investment in tools, supplies, and space if you are going to pursue it on your own. I never did it again, but every time I see a beautiful piece like this I wonder what if. šŸ™‚ Lovely words to ponder on this Monday.

    • Ah, the what-if. You’d have been wonderful at this art, no doubt about it. I think it probably is related to quilting in concept if not in execution. Stained glass, like quilting, is one of those ways the functional becomes beautiful. Sometimes our species comes through with enduring beauty. Deo gratias!

  2. I love the idea of the window as a brooch.
