In search of story

April 20.20: Coping

I’m suburban born and bred,

I barely know horse from cow,

but if I climbed into its rafters

could I hide from the here and now?

A writer could find refuge

in this place of certain story,

strong in tattered red,

rustic allegory.

I wouldn’t be much bother

amid the hay and clover;

I’d leave the very minute

this wretchedness is over.

It doesn’t sound very brave, does it, dear reader?

I don’t feel very brave.

  1. One thing for sure, Maureen, is that you are not alone. My grandparents had a barn with a hay loft and I spent many a pleasant times up there. As far as hiking places goes, it’s perfect. Happy Monday.

    • Thanks! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one afraid. I’m also glad to know that this would be a good hiding place. Maybe I’ll spot you up there! Happy Monday to you, too, Judy!

  2. I think we all need somewhere to hide and be afraid at the moment.
