“Seek and ye shall find”
applies in wintry spring
seeking signs of life
yet finding not a thing —
and then low-growing star
of lavenderish-blue
evokes a constellation
glitteringly new.

Violets were a favorite springtime treat when I was growing up. We had an empty lot by our house that was generally carpeted with violets in bloom by May Day. Thanks for the memory!

Empty lots were a big part of my childhood, too, but they never held such charm as a carpet of violets. How beautiful that must have been!
