Connections: March 23.18

What the heck is THAT?!

my silver-tongued exclamation

as I blinked my suburbanite eyes

in recoiling disapprobation.

Except for its long flat tail

it looked like a waterlogged rat

frowning at me as to say

I’m too lazy for this habitat.

  1. 🙂 In this neck of the woods, if it had a tail and was swimming it would probably be a gator. 🙂

    • I laughed when I read that but then I thought, “What am I laughing at? Eeeuuuw!” You remember that song “Never Smile at a Crocodile”? And the look on Capt Hook’s face when he heard the clock in the croc? That would be me.

      • We went to Brookgreen yesterday and toured the zoo area. We saw an alligator that must have been 12 feet long and 200+ lbs. He looked like he had a grin on his face just daring us to get any closer. We asked how old he was, and the lady replied 65-70. I laughed out loud. Who knew we had ‘senior citizen’ alligators. 🙂

  2. 12 feet long? ICK. I am sure that was a grin and you read it right! And you know how crotchety we seniors can be!

  3. An unbusy beaver? If you squint a little, it’s a hippo.
