Connections: September 25.17

It’s leggy and seed-headed

brown where once was green

but the garden this September

is the best I’ve ever seen.

My pear tomato plant

bedecked like Christmas tree

has survived in gold and gaudy

ponderosity.

  1. I’m guessing I’ve got maybe another week of tomato plants. The tomatoes are hanging on there, but there are almost zero leaves left. They are kind of sick looking, but I’m still enjoying every one of those fruits I pick. 🙂

    • Oh, indeed! Never mind how sick they look — their season is to be savored as long as possible. I don’t know how long I’ll have some to pick; we’ve been in a siege of 90-degree heat that has really confused the tomatoes and a few other things. But in a few days the nights will drop to the 40s. The tomatoes might change their minds then. Meanwhile, we enjoy while we can!
