Connections: September 4.17

I’ve tried living in the city

but I never had the speed

I don’t move fast enough

for the ubiquitous stampede.

Here’s my idea of traffic

with its flagged festoonery

a congenial breathing tempo

for confirmed slowpoke like me.

I know the world can’t spin

without the cities’ glow

but some of us find industry

where we can hurry slow.

Wishing us all a national holiday to catch our national breath.

With many thanks to the S.W. Berg Photo Archives.

  1. I like that – hurry slow. You’re not alone in that category. 🙂

  2. Thanks, Judy! I’m glad to not be the only one! (I’m also a proud splitter of infinitives.)

  3. Hope you had a lovely holiday. This is my idea of traffic too (except driving on the other side of the street, of course). I don’t like driving and put myself way out of my comfort zone this weekend by driving some distance to visit gardens that have been on my to-visit list for a couple of years.
