In search of story

Connections: February 8.17

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERAThe other day I happened upon

a forum on NPR

a rabbi’s words illumined

a mood as black as tar:

when optimism can’t be had

we must insist on hope,

and keep in mind the difference

as we walk this slippery slope.

I opened the window this morning

Die Zauberflöte silvered the air!

the crimson Papageno,

the high-headed Chanticleer!

Corny it may be

but I need to think it so

the return of morning birdsong

as rabbinical treetop echo.

  1. Handsome Cardinal, wise words, and the timing is very interesting. 🙂 We went to lunch today at Groucho’s Deli in Conway, SC. As we were sitting in the booth we noticed a photo of a baseball team on the wall. The name under the photo was Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers. 🙂 You and I could be really good neighbors. 🙂

    • That is too much! We would indeed be good neighbors — think of all the things we could holler over the fence! I agree about the timing of the cardinal — is this the beginning of a story about the rabbi and the cardinal?
