  1. Oh my goodness, this post is a direct hit. Yes, I am the keeper, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wonder how different life would have been if those young men had returned to my family. 🙂 Thank you for remembering them all.

    • I’m so sorry! I think, though, that I remember that one of your blog posts — and maybe one or two comments — referred to the losses in your family. The sense of loss doesn’t go away, does it? No one in my family was lost to World War II, though my parents had good friends that never returned. Somber memories, somber times. They seem never to be over.

  2. Oh, indeed your lives would have been richer. The loss of two young men from one family is incomprehensible in all its maybe’s and could-have-been’s. That presence of absence — very real.
